2014 Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldog Brandon Smoot (Commonwealth Kings Black) has committed to play MCLA lacrosse at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. Brandon is the state's first signee to the program for their upcoming 2014-2015 season and was an All-star at the Carolina Summer Shootout. Brandon is a three year starter for the Bulldogs at the Long Stick Midfielder/Defense position. He will be a captain for his senior season and as a junior recorded 20 Caused Turnovers, 29 Ground Balls and 2 goals.
PLD Head Coach and Commonwealth Kings SIlver Coach Dwight Hammons said, "Brandon is a great kid who deserves to play at the next level because he did everything the right way. It's great for our program to have him as a captain his last year on the team so he can show the younger players what it takes to succeed. I'm sure his versatility as a long stick midfielder or close defenseman will benefit Asbury's team in their upcoming seasons."
